E-Journey Week 11
The readings from this past week were particularly meaningful and engaging. I read messages from the president of the church to successful entrepreneurs and their messages were all inspiring. There are few thoughts I wanted to share this week:
- My attitude toward money: I feel as if I have a pretty healthy attitude towards money. I grew up in fairly humble circumstances and gotten to a point where my family and I are living comfortably. I would say I've been the same level of "happy" in either situation. I also recognize that any fluctuation in that level was not due to how much money I had in the bank. Despite that, I would consider myself a very ambitious individual but my motivation is for that of the respect of my peers and the security of my family.
- How one views money can have a significant impact on your life. I agreed with the Attitude On Money in that money is not inherently good or evil. What that money is used for or the actions one takes to get their money most definitely can be. I really liked the example of Brother Huntsman and how he was generous with his money even when he was only making $300 a month.
- The recommended rules for prospering:
- Seek the Lord and have hope in him - This will keep things in your life in perspective and assure you that there is a higher power
- Keep the commandments, that includes the temporal ones, tithing and fast offerings - Stay ethical and give back of your increase
- Think about money and plan how you can become self-reliant - Plan for the future. You can't manage a company (or others) if you can't take care of yourself
- Take advantage of changes for learning so you will not be ignorant of these matters. Education is the key to opportunity - Self explanatory. Always look for opportunities, even if they seem beneath you.
- Learn the laws upon which the blessings of wealth are predicated - Understand that all blessings come from above
- Do not send away the naked, the hungry, the thirsty or the sick or those who are held captive
