Deconstructing Your Fears
Hi!
I recently completed an exercise that helped me deconstruct the fears I have concerning my entrepreneur Journey! It's actually something I've heard about via Tim Ferriss (huge fan!) and I was excited to put it into action.
Here are my take-aways:
- Ultimately, if I pursue my calling with discipline, intentionality and rely on the help of those that love and respect me the fears I listed are not likely to come true. It's amazing how the fear of a Thing can be diminished just by shining a light on it. Imagine a friend repeating your fears in a sarcastic tone. At once, you'll be able to realize how overblown those fears are. In addition, while the light is still shining on it, the decisions you make will further help ensure they do not occur.
- In looking at my list of fears, I see that the theme is the judgement or disapproval of others. I'm afraid that others will think I'm not qualified or capable or will help that I fail in the long run. Considering the theme can also put things in perspective. For me, if others judging me is the worst of it, then there really isn't anything stopping me.
- Lastly, what is the opportunity cost of me not taking action. This you'll have to assess for yourself. And maybe the fear you have of making the leap is less than the fear of staying stagnant and down your current path.
What's holding you back from taking the first step of your journey?
